SSCP takes Germany by storm with a write-up in the Financial Times Deutschland, titled "Gutes Geld," thanks to writer and photographer Karsten Lemm.
The San Francisco chapter of the Secret Society for Creative Philanthropy, founded in 2010, is known for being left coast swanky. Members include social entrepreneurs, ethnomusicologists, and foodies (the non-snobby kind). Expect to see a lot of bikes and black-rimmed glasses at these chapter meetings in the coming years. Earnestness abounds.

Don't miss the comments section at the bottom of the article; San Franciscans always have an opinion, and these are an unusually positive bunch.

The Craigslist bulletin board post reads:
You were holding a sign that said, "I will give you a dollar to give to someone else." I took your dollar and you asked to make sure that I'd give to someone else. I just wanted to let you know that I followed through and gave it to someone else!
Thought your act was such a lovely idea, it was nice to be able to pass it on!
SSCP continued its global expansion, here in the City by the Bay on February 19, 2010, when 10 San Franciscans joined the growing ranks of the SSCP.
Fruits of the 10 new agents included altruism postcards made and sent, twenty-five micro donations to NPR, fifty videotaped $2 conversations among strangers, care packages (think junk food, books, and celeb magazines) sent to kids serving abroad for the first time, the doling out free umbrellas on a misty day, a BART station dollar giveaway, a $50 tip to a kind cab driver, a $100 tip for an aerobics instructor who opens up his studio each month to kids from low-incoming communities, drinks on the house to commemorate and celebrate life, street musician donations, and a 100-year savings account where a modest investment will grow for a century.
Coverage, pics, and videos from the event forthcoming.
The Inaugural San Fran meeting of the SSCP happens Friday, February 19th. Contact us to get involved, if you dare!
